Does OCS 2007 R2 support a separate SQL 2008 server with database Mirroring?

I would like to see Microsoft implement a <a href="http://www.vocalocity.com/cloud-pbx/">cloud pbx</a> system which is a telephony system that works completely over the internet. That would be very impressive to see cloud pbx a large scale possibility.

I have a question regarding how the User Profiles actually get "cleared out". I'm seeing same profiles are showing everday eventhough deleted them manually.

Steps Taken...

1.  created new LDAP Filter to limit a number of user profiles that match. 

2.  Ran Full User Import (Now am showing about 10,000 User Profiles that show up under "Profiles Missing from Import")

3.  Manually ran 3 or 4 more Full User Imports.  (User Profiles continue to show up under "Profiles Missing from Import").

When does Sharepoint actually delete these missing user profiles?  Is there a step I am missing?

I have installed SQl server2008 twice on my machine. when I installed for the First time some components was missing. So I installed second time but by mistake I installed with another instance name. As i have Windows7 installed on my machine there is some compatibility issue with SQL server2008. I have downloaded the service pack for that and tried to install it but getting error:

after browsing around for some time we found a tool that can move our images off-site to another backup server (which we also operate, so we wanted to keep the data private rather than using an online service we don't really trust). It's called backupchain, hope this helps!

SharePoint makes heavy use of the SQL Server database but there is an issue of SQL Server not being fully optimized to handle, query BLOBs. Moreover the performance of SQL Server degrades at peak load times.

To overcome these issues the BLOB storage must be externalized.
Caching techniques can also be applied so that BLOBs can be served from cache for faster access.

Some software applications like Ncachepoint, storagepoint or avepoint does the caching for sharepoint. Ncachepoint also caches lists, asp.net sessions and optimizes css and javascripts for faster page loading.

i think these are good piece of software to consider to avoid performance and scalability issues of sharepoint

What if all my users are in the same site and I want to use 3 CAS servers.
2 for the internal users on the LAN
1 for the inetrnet users.

I will configure the 2 internal CAS in one array and the one on the DMZ serving OWA and ActiveSync leave it as standard configured just facing the internet.

Is this possible ?

It is more important to find correct failure point in server, as server data is more important. Thanks for such nice post.

If you want to delete the folder but windows tells you it's in use,
you can always use Process Explorer to kill the processes using C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder.

If you don't have it, google for it, it was made by sysinternals.
There's a cool find icon, type the folder, and click in search. Processes appear below, double click it, later click on the top of the screen, there's a black X on the toolbar to kill the process

i tried everything possible but i m not seeing the screen as shown in step 16. i am not getting any error as well. what could be wrong?

Thanks for this post; previously we'd been moving leavers into a separate OU, but using the proper Account Disabled attribute seems a much better way.

Another work around for this is to uninstall the 2008 support files after each node install and let the installer reinstall them clean for each node (instance) added.

Per RIM document KB17757, BlackBerry Enterprise Instant Messaging is not functional with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and they have no time frame for when it will be supported. Time to look for 3rd party tools.

I wish we had Server 2008 Group Policy Preferences installed in our domain :(

I am using the pickup folder for e-fax application that drops messages in eml format to the pickup folder. However whenever that message is addressed to a DL which requires Sender Authentication, I get the error "550 5.7.1 RESOLVER.RST.AuthRequired; authentication required". If I uncheck sender authentication, it works fine. My requirement is to have sender authentication checked as if I send a normal email using outlook to that DL, it is sent successfully.

Unfortunately, virtualized OCS 2007 R2 pools...now officially supported with special requirements..cannot handle and real time voice, video, RCC.

Group chat along with pool front end servers are supported for IM only :)

These definition files, when written to the client, create folders called KPP0000X. Each folder is over 90mb, and they tend to stack up, depleting hard drive space at an alarming rate. Would you happen to know of a way to clear these automatically, without clearing the most recent since, according to MS, the most recent KPP folder is necessary to run FCS?

At a time when things are so tight for my clients remarks telling people to spend more money on new hardware because of MS being pious about tapes just makes people resentful.  Dropping tape support is a foolish move that just makes everything harder to migrate smoothly - what posessed the development managers to design a component that reduces functionality.

I cannot change a differencing disk with VMRCPlus.  For example, I moved the parent disk to a second hard drive on my machine, but I cannot update a differencing disk to point to the new location of the parent disk.  This is an important feature that needs to be looked at.

The full error texts these tools report make trouble shooting configuration problems a lot easier.  I went from three hours of activesync config hell to fixed with just two 30 second tests.

I changed the setting this way:

Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -Server $null -CertPrincipalName msstd:mail.company.org

This matches what is in the Exchange Proxy Settings.

Moreover:

- Portquery shows that both port 80 and 443 are LISTENING.

- OWA works just fine. Outlook works fine internally.

It still doesn't work...

I'm thinking the only possibilities are:

- the FQDN of the mail server (mailserver1.mydomain.local) is not included in the cert (this was messed up, so we do get the resulting warning message when Outlook is used internally. However, users can click OK and proceed). So... that can't be the primary name in the cert.

- No autodiscover.mydomain.org (or local?) in cert.

That's not speculation - I KNOW that those entries are not present.

Looks like I might have to redo the cert then?

Same situation, mysteriously showed up without notification from backup team. You saved me a round phonecalls!

I recently installed Vista Ultimate from a bootable USB thumb drive on the Asus EEE PC 1000 with SSD. Aero grahpics, WIFI, camera, all running. Speed acceptable. Runs Google Earth etc. Killer is the Winsxs folder. On the my 8GB C: drive this "junk" file grew to over 6GB!!!! and still growing as I install more apps. That is a killer.

Acronis works well. I created a bootable USB thumb drive with drive images for C: (8GB) and D: (32GB).

Assuming the hardware is dedicated as a Hyper-V host, how much RAM should be available to the host, after allocating RAM for VMs?

If I use my wireless provider internet, it times out (I added CF 3.5 messages onto my Motorola Q) - if I use my cradle and home connection (cable modem) it works, but does not download anything.
